Count text characters (keystrokes)

This page counts the number of text characters you have typed. With running total. Useful for web forms with a character limit.

If you paste text in, that doesn't count as characters because pasting is not a keystroke. After pasting text in, just make any keystroke and the characters will be counted, including what you pasted in. Otherwise just type and see the total as you type.

Each space also counts as character. So does a carriage return (new row).

Sometimes when you are filling a web form in, the form only allows a certain number of characters in total. Some don't give you a running total, so you don't know where you're up to. Some forms don't even inform you there's a limit. Either way, this page gives you a running total so you can enter and edit your text accordingly, then copy it and paste into the form you are trying to submit.
